Update July 14th

Dearest Members,

First and foremost, we want to THANK YOU for your encouragement and support…it’s been incredible. We have the best members!

The team’s been working extremely hard and they’ve almost completely remodeled the whole interior. Our goal is to give our members’ one of the nicer clubs in the country and we want you to have a wonderful surprise for you to come back to, so no photos have been posted (except the attached one of the locker rooms).

Second, as part of the remodel we’ve taken huge steps towards having a sanitized club.

I know this has been a confusing and frustrating time…especially since other gyms reopened early and we waited. To be fair to our members, we will follow the CDC guidelines for businesses, and will

Re-Open Monday, July 20th.

As many of our members have pointed out, “Exercise and Nutrition are the best way to keep our immune system strong” and the gym is an essential part of their lives.

We’ve studied other clubs following the CDC guidelines and it’s gone much easier than originally thought. Rule #1: Please respect all members and staff and follow the guidelines below for the safety and comfort of all.

The following are new procedures while we get through the stages:

-Please leave belongings at home…only keys and cell phone will be permitted as there’s no use of lockers, showers or spa at this time. Only bathrooms.

-Must have your own mask.

-Masks must be worn at all times, except during higher exertion (6’ social distancing maintained)

-Entrance and Exit are separate doors. Please follow directional signage.

-Sanitize hands upon entering (provided at entrance)

-Sign the Procedures Agreement/ Waiver so everyone understands the new procedures (once only)

-Scan membership card so we can maintain 30% occupancy (currently no need to reserve, we have a huge building)

-Take one Cleaning Towel & Sanitizing Bottle (we will provide and they must be kept with you at all times)

*sanitizer is listed on CDC website to kill corona virus

-Must wipe machines before AND after each use

-Follow directional signage and maintain 6 foot social distancing

-Return bottle & towel at the front desk (we will sanitize both)

-Sanitize hands upon exiting

*Club Hours are temporarily reduced to:

Mon – Fri: 6am – 1pm then 3pm-10pm. Closed midday for deep cleaning from 1pm-3pm.

Sat and Sunday: 7am -6pm

*GoupX classes, Kids’ Club and Tanning are postponed for now but we’ll keep you posted.

*Instructor led one on one and small group trainings are allowed with 5 people or less per instructor. Personal Training, 6 week challenge/ training camp are active

We will keep you posted on our website under the member tab, our Facebook page and big announcements will be mass emailed as things evolve.

Update Friday June 26th

As many of you know, Whatcom County won’t be able to apply for phase 3 today until we hit our numbers. We’ve confirmed with the Governor’s office and the Whatcom Health Department that phase 3 is when we’re allowed to reopen.
It could be any day, but in the meantime…we keep adding to the upgrades and the team is on a sprint to see how much we can accomplish. I promise you it’s going to be so worth the wait!
We’re not posting photos because we want it to be a nice surprise for everyone.
We’ll keep you informed on Facebook and on our website under the member tab.
When we’re about to reopen…we’ll send out another mass email.
Stay well and we’ll see you soon.

Update On Opening

Dearest Members,

We just wanted to provide a quick update because we know there’s some confusion out there about reopening dates for gyms in Whatcom County and our members are curious about what we’ve been up to since the gym’s been closed.

First, we’ve double checked with the Governor’s office and the Whatcom County health department and large gyms like ours are not allowed to reopen until Phase 3.  Phase 2 started in Whatcom County on June 5th and there’s a mandatory 3 weeks in between stages, so we anticipate being able to reopen Monday June 29th.  We will keep everyone notified if things change and we have all the CDC protocols in place for a safe return. Latest updates can be found under the member tab of our website and on our facebook page.

Second, the rumors are true!  We promised we would remodel the locker rooms and paint the hot tub, which we did, but what we didn’t share is that the team has been working extremely hard and we’ve completely remodeled most of the interior of the whole club!  We’ve been quiet about it and only posted one photo so far (locker room remodel attached) because we want you to have something positive to look forward to when you come back.   Our goal is to be one of the nicest and cleanest clubs in the country by fulfilling our 3 step plan;

  1. Remodel the whole interior of Bellingham Fitness.
  2. Add 3 indoor pickleball courts to Bellingham Fitness.
  3. Add on a sister studio business, PURstudios, which will grand open in the fall with 5 studios within our building. Yoga (heated), Barre, Cycle, Pilates and Training.

For all of those who have continued to support us….THANK-YOU! None of this would be possible without you!

Some Good News

The Seattle Times article attached is predicting gyms will be able to reopen around June 15th at 50% capacity which we don’t think will create a wait, due to the size of Bellingham Fitness. Some counties may be allowed to open sooner… we’ll keep you posted. In the mean time we’ll continue to work on major improvements at the club…stay tuned for the next photo as big items are accomplished.

We Miss You!

We miss you too and want to THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for the outpouring of support. We had no idea we would be closed this long and the team has been working extremely hard on deep cleaning/ sanitizing and making major upgrades.
Scott, the team and I wanted to surprise everyone with the improvements, but now that we can’t open as soon as we had anticipated, we’re going to start giving you sneak peaks into what we’ve been working on.
We’re in the process of renovating the locker rooms and here is the first photo posted….we really hope you like them!
As long as enough members are able to continue to support us, we hope to do many more upgrades, but we do understand this is not possible for some. We’re all going to get through this together and be stronger for it. Constant and Never Ending Improvement is our club motto.
Also, please remember that you will get credit to our new premier business, PURstudios & unlimited tanning in all our beds for the equal time you were able to support us during this mandated closure…Thank-You! We truly could not stay in business and do these major improvements without members like you.
If you need anything, just email me at service@bellinghamfitness.com. I check that email several times throughout the day.
Take care of yourself and loved ones during these stress filled times. -Todd

MEMBER UPDATE

Dear Bellingham Fitness Members/ Team,

For the past 17 years Bellingham Fitness has been trusted to provide our members with an inspiring and safe environment to achieve your health and fitness goals.  Never before have we been faced with a challenge as we are now.

We understand your concerns surrounding membership dues during our temporary mandated closure.

We pray that our members will choose to support our business to ensure we are able to continue once we are cleared to reopen our doors. There are many expenses that are not paused despite the mandatory shut down and we want to support our staff and ensure everyone’s employment when we reopen.

For those that are able to support us by continuing to pay your membership dues during this crisis, we will provide you with free access to our new sister business, PURstudios, that is scheduled to open in the fall for as many days as we’re currently closed.  You’ll have unlimited access to our 3 new studios (PURcycle, PURbarre and PURyoga) and our 3 new indoor pickleball courts. We also would like to give you a free session in PURtraining when our trainers move to their new space. If you can support us, there is no need to contact us. You’re dues will continue and you’ll automatically get access when PURstudios grand opens.

For those that are not able to support us at this time, we have offered the opportunity to freeze your membership, understanding that many of our members are also experiencing hardship due to the pandemic.

Our own team will be posting workouts and we’ve also partnered with Les Mills so you can stream, for free, 95 workouts in 8 different categories.  We know it’s not the same as working out at the gym but please take advantage of it. It’s free to you, you don’t need to subscribe (just click on ,the video you want) and it will be available as long as we are closed. Just use the following link:

Even though we’re closed, the staff has been working extremely hard on sanitizing the club and helping in the remodel of the locker rooms.  Our plan is to be done before we reopen. We’re excited to welcome the members back to a clean club with many improvements like a painted hot tub and remodeled locker rooms…

I was reminded today by one of our instructors that, “This too shall pass”.

Stay well and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Scott, Todd and the Bellingham Fitness Family

Member Notice

Dear Bellingham Fitness Members, 3/16/20

Our governor has closed all restaurants and recreational facilities from midnight of March 17th thru March 31st   (2 weeks) to prevent the spread of the virus.  As a small, local business our family have visited with many of our staff and members about the best course of action to take during this crisis.

Our club motto is Constant and Never Ending Improvement, so the question became how can we take a negative and make something positive out of it?

The conclusion of our conversations is that the ultimate goal would be three things:

  1. Offer a way for our members to keep working out at home to keep the stress down and their immunity up while the club is closed.

We’ve partnered with Les Mills so you can stream for free 95 workouts in 8 different categories.  We know it’s not the same as working out at the gym but please take advantage of it. It’s free to you, you don’t need to subscribe (just click on the video you want) and it will be available as long as we are closed. Just use the following link:

https://watch.lesmillsondemand.com/at-home-workouts

  1. Not only stay in business but be a better/ safer place to be when we reopen.

We’re going to use this closure as a time to deep clean/ sanitize the club, do repairs and improvements. We’re already creating a list of things we would like to accomplish some of which are dependent on scheduling some trades people last minute. Things like painting the hot tub…

  1. With over 40 employees we have a great staff and want them to be here when we reopen but their dependent on a paycheck and we are committed to being able to pay them during this time.

These are challenging times, but like we see in other communities where tragedy has struck…if we stick together and help each other, we will be a stronger/ better community for it. And we will be!

Wishing you and yours the best of health!

Todd, Scott and the Bellingham Fitness Family.

*We will post any changes to the Bellingham Fitness Facebook page first.
